PATRIOTIC APPEAL
DUNEDIN-ST. KILDA SUB-ZONE
The fortnightly meeting of the DunedinSt. Kilda Sub-zone of the Otago Patriotic Council was held yesterday morning, and was attended by Messrs A. C. Cameron (chairman), A. L. S. Cassie, N. D. Anderson, J. Caldwell, G. G. Adess, W. G. Kindley, L. B. Bradstock, W. A. Jenkins, I. S. Cantrell (hon. treasurer), R. D. Stewart (hon. secretary), A. E. Russell (secretary of the Otago Council), Mesdames D. Barton, T. A. Christiansen. A. J. H. Gregory, Gerald Ferguson, and Miss Joyce Thomson. The chairman said that arrangements were well in hand for the visit of a team of United States boxers, who would be matched against local boxers. It was proposed to hold the tournament on July 31, the date of the Otago-Southland football match. The Otago Boxing Association was attending to the details for matching the marines. ■Mr Bradstock reported on the proposed schools’ day. He said that the Dug-out would be utilised and that a comprehensive collecting campaign would be carried out.
It was reported that £IOOO had been allotted to Otago from the sale of waste material, and that the sub-zone would receive about £SOO of this amount. Mr Cantrell said that some £36,000 of the £58,000 quota required by the subzone was in hand. The campaign is to close in September next,
