LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Central Branch. —Mrs M. G. Black presided. The Rev. F. De Lisle gave an inspiring talk on "The Sanctity of Marriage.” The thought was sent by Mrs R. Taylor—“ Instead of a gem, or even a flower, cast the gift of a lovely thought into the heart of a friend." Mrs Middlemas sang two solos, and Mesdames Walker, Naylor, and Middlemas presented a trio. Caversham Branch.—Mrs McCracken presided. Mrs Stewart made a special plea for more knitters for balaclavas and mittens. The thought was, “Kindness is a language which the deaf hear and the blind read.” Mrs F. S. Laycock gave an entertaining and amusing account of a trip from Port Said to Cairo. Mrs Clark played two pianoforte solos. Stirling Branch Meeting.—A large number of the Balclutha branch members attended, and provided the programme, comprising a piano solo by Mrs Garfield Anderson, songs by Mrs D. Inglis and Mrs McGregor, and items by the choir. The thought, given by Mrs Paterson, was “ Kind firmness causes the formation ot good habits, and habits are the basis of character.” Mrs Wood presided, and introduced Miss -Ballard, who spoke on “ Child Psychology."
