LABOURER’S DEATH

Sitting as coroner yesterday, Mr H, W. Bundle, S.M., concluded the adjourned inquest into") the death of David Miles, a labourer, aged 54, who died suddenly at his residence in Leith street on May 10. Mr R. A. King appeared for the relatives of the deceased, and Mr A. N. Haggitt watched proceedings on behalf of the City Corporation and the Dunedin Drainage Board, by whom the deceased was employed Sergeant McCarthy represented the police. Dr D’Ath gave details of a post-mortem examination of the body and said the cause of death Was heart failure, thq result of chronic fibrosis of the lungs, and degeneration of the coronary , arteries. After hearing evidence by a fellowemplovee of the deceased, and the deceased’s wife, the coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
