ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
ANNUAL MEETING . The fifty-third annual general meeting, of the Otago Football Association was held last night, Mr E. J. Anderson presiding over a good attendance of members. Moving the adoption of the annual report, tire president expressed satisfaction that the association had been able, during a difficult year, to carry on its,activities successfully. He referred to the deaths of Mr A. Pemberton and Mr F. H. Ball, keen supporters of the game. Mr E. .L. Hope, speaking to the motion for the adoption of the financial statement. pointed out that, although the profit on the year’s operations was extremely small, it was gratifying to note that no club w’as in arrears with its subscriptions. Reference was made to the valuable services rendered to the association by Mr D. Hanlin, who was retiring after many years as a member of the - Management Committee. ‘ Several members stressed the need for keeping up a liaison between schools 'and affiliated clubs, as the lack of such a connection resulted in the loss of many promising young players. The following officers w’ere elected for the year:—Patrons, the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) and Mr James Fletcher; president, Mr E. J. Anderson: vice-presidents— Messrs E. R. Grace, W. Dow. J. Simpson, R. Peake, and A. Sharp; Management Committee —Messrs M. K. Haig, A. B. Smith, D. Cook, and N. McLennan; representative on the New Zealand Council, Mr F. Campbell.
