Monday, May 31 (Before Mr H. W. Bundle. S.M.) Disturbance at Dance Stated by the prosecution to have created a disturbance at the Town Hail dance on Saturday night, Hugh Godfrey McFarlane, aged 23. a plumber and moulder, pleaded guilty to behaving in a disorderly manner while drunk. With him, Leslie Richard Bryan, aged 29. a maltster, was charged with having obstructed a constable in the execution of his duty.—Sergeant O’Carroll • explained that McFarlane, who was under the influence of liquor and had a bottle of beer in his possession, had been asked to leave the dance, but he became abusive and had to be ejected by a constable. Bryan interfered with the constable and both men were arrested.—Remarking that men who went to a dance in the state McFarlane was in were a nuisance to all decent people, the magistrate fined him £5. in default seven days’ imprisonment. "A man who obstructs the police,” his Worship added, imposing a fine of £lO on Bryan. “ deserves no consideration.” Default in this case was fixed at 14 days’ imprisonment. Alleged Breaking and Entering Alfred Edward Codlin, aged 22, a plumber, was charged with breaking and entering by night the premises of Percy G. Homer, and stealing a quantity of tools.
