PUBLIC REASSURED
NO NEW ZEALAND TRANSPORTS SUNK (P.A.) AUCKLAND, May 31. “I can assure the people of the Dominion that no New Zealand troops have been involved in any such alleged shipoing losses,” said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, to-day when recent Japanese claims were referred to him. In a message from New York a few days ago it was mentioned that the Tokio radio said that' Japanese naval and air units claimed to have sunk five Allied transports including one of 15,000 tons, in the South Pacific between May 1 and 24. Mr Fraser said he had no information of any 15,000-ton transport being' lost and he could most definitely allay any' public anxiety by stating that no Dominion personnel were connected with any of the Japanese claims.
