CITY POLICE COURT

Before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M.. in the City Police Court on Saturday, William Albert Pauley, a labourer and bottle dealer, aged 29 years, pleaded guilty to a charge of using obscene language in Albany street.—Sergeant O’Carroll said that the accused had come home in a drunken condition, and his mother had had to go to the police. A constable accompanied her homeland the language complained of was used.—“ This is quite an ugly affair,” said the magistrate, sentencing Pauley to seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour. Two men, whose names were suppressed, pleaded guilty to charges of fighting each other in a public place. It was stated that the offence had occurred at an early hour of the morning. Each man was fined 10s.
