Ministerial The Minister in Charge of War Expenditure in the War Cabinet, Mr Adam Hamilton, was a passenger by the through express from Invercargill on Saturday on his way to Wellington. Mr W. Russell Wood has returned from Christchurch, where he was one of the judges at the annual competitions. Mrs J. R. Hanan has been appointed relieving teacher at (he Southland Girls' High School, and has taken up her duties. Mr J- B. Stewart returned on Saturday from Wellington, where he attended a meeting of the Associated Chambers of. Commerce. Messrs C. R. McLean, H. P. Jefcoate, and O. L. Ferens returned on Saturday from Wellington after attending the annual conference of the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association. Messrs J. K. Macfie (past president) and A. W. Jones (president) left for. Wellington on Saturday morning to attend the annual meeting of the Dominion Council of Friendly Societies. Passengers who left for the north by the airliner on Saturday were Mr W. Hancock and Mrs A. Lessing for Christchurch, Lieutenant-commander R. K Hodsdon for Wellington, and Messrs F. Peterson and T. McKay for Auckland. Mr A. E. Reynolds, registrar of the Supreme Court at Hamilton, lias received notice of his transfer to a similar position in Dunedin. Mr Reynolds was clerk of the Magistrate's Court at Dunedin until about eight years ago, when he was transferred to Wellington, later going to Hamilton. .
