The development of shipbuilding in New Zealand as a result of the war was dealt with by the Minister of Supply, Mr Sullivan, in a review of the Dominion’s industrial effort he gave to the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Labour. Mr Sullivan told the conference that to-day the total orders in hand for the construction of small ships of various types numbered 300, These ships were just as urgently required in the war effort as the larger types of vessels.
