DESERT VICTORY FILM

NEW ZEALANDERS’ PART NOT FULLY RECOGNISED (N.Z.E.F. Official News Service) JERUSALEM. (Rev. 11 p.m.) Apl'. 27. The “ Desert Victory ” film, which portrays the Eighth Army’s victorious progress across North Africa, is being shown twice a day at three theatres in Cairo and two in Alexandria. Although much of the film was supplied by New Zealand cameramen, New Zealanders who have seen the picture are disappointed that the part played by the New Zealand Division was not fully recognised by the English commentator. Australians have received full recognition, but the picture would lead the public to believe that the New Zealanders were a reserve force, whereas the New Zealanders played a major role in the E! Alamein sorties and the ultimate breakthrough.
