THE ARAKAN AREA
ALLIED AIR ATTACKS (Rec. 9 p.m.) RUGBY, Apl. 22. • The Indian joint communique states that throughout yesterday K.A.F. fighters and bombers kept up the attack on the enemy in Arakan. Hurricanes started fires in various parts of the battle area, and inflicted casualties on the enemy personnel. bombers and fighter-bombers alsd attacked enemy positions in the morning. A force of enemy bombers with fighter escort made a high-level attack on Imphal. The raiders were intercepted and one was probably destroyed and one damaged without loss to the British aircraft. One part of the town was damaged and a small number of casualties are reported.
