RINGING OF BELLS
(Rec. 8 p.m.) RUGBY, Apl. 22. In future it will not be permissible lb ring bells for ouch purposes as weddings and funerals. The object of the restrictions is to avoid any misunderstandings by the public which mignl result from ringing them at times which are not obviously hours of public worship. In the House of Commons, Mr Chruchill, answering a question, said the Government came to the conclusion that the ringing of bells as a warning for invasion was redundant, and noi well adapted to the present conditions of war. “We came to the co"elusion that this particular method was redundant, and therefore replacement does not arise,” said Mr Churchill. " I cannot help feeling that anything like a serious invasion would be bound to leak out.”
