RICCARTON NOTES
(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Apl. 19. Lunaria was schooled this morning over the pony hurdles, which he jumped very well. He is only a novice yet, but his jumping .education will be gone on with regularly, so that he may be ready for his first hurdle race at Ashburton next month. The two-year-old Hurry Home was lame this morning. She is not likely to race in the Champagne Stakes, and may have to be spelled. Though Last Effort has been allowed to drop out of his engagements here at
Easter, there is nothing wrong with him. It is thought that the easier company at Westport will suit him better in the meantime. Good Sun bled again after his work on Saturday, when he was schooled over eight hurdles. As a result, he has been allowed to drop out of next Monday’s hurdle race, and it is probable he will not be further persevered with. Fur Coat is in good order for the Great Easter Handicap. His stable mate, Botany, has forfeited both his first day engagements, and his only start at the meeting will be dn the Challenge Stakes, in which he will be hard to beat. B. H. Brodie will ride Dinah Dhu in the Great Easter Handicap, probably at 7.8, or 61b over-weight. Night Pal is training on all right, and will be seen among the sprinters in the Great Easter, with K. Thomson as his rider.
