OBITUARY

CAPTAIN A. H. FISK (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Apl. 1». Captain Arthur Henry Fisk, who died in a private hospital yesterday, was born in Wellington in 1867. He was apprenticed to the New Zealand Shipping Company at the age of 15, and served first in the Otaki and then as third officer of the Otarama. He was second officer in the Rakaia, and later he served in ships of the Union Company, the Patea Freezing Company, and the Anchor Company. While he was with the Rakaia she grounded on a sandbank 300 miles off Sierra Leone. He and the late Commander Worsley were sent off. with a boat crew to row to Freetown for assistance. They rowed for five days and were then picked up by a steamer 40 miles from Freetown. Meanwhile the Rakaia had got off, and she later recovered her boat and crew.

DR. L. A. LINE The death occurred at Khandallah on Friday last of Dr L. A. Line, who was born at Waitahuna, and was educated at Otago University. He was trained at first for the teaching profession and became a member of the staff of the Union Street School, in , Dunedin, but being attracted to the study of medicine, returned to the University to take the medical course. Before going to Wellington about 20 years ago, he practised his profession in various parts of Otago and Southland, and latterly in Sumner, Christchurch. Dr Line was a prominent member of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, and a staunch supporter of the Presbyterian Church He gave freely of his professional services to orphanages and other institutions. He is survived by his wid'”one son, and two daughters.
