The crack pacing mare Haughty is handicapped at 4min 24sec in the Easter Handicap, of £IOOO, for a 4rtiin 28sec class. She is giving Gold Bar 36 yards. In the Flying Handicap for a 2min 12sec class Gold Bar is on 36 yards, with nine others in front of him. Josette, the winner of the principal event at the South Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting, has scored three wins, two seconds, and two thirds in nine starts this season. She is a six-year-old mare by David McElwyn—Cyone, by Logan Pointer—Mavis Bingen, by Hula Dillon— Bell Bingen, by Bingen—Bertha Belle. More interest would be aroused in the light-harness races at Timaru and Oamaru if they were run on the trotting tracks instead of the course proper." At Invercargill the trotting events are run on the old mile circuit instead of the course proper.
The following handicaps have been declared for the principal event at the Addington meeting:—Easter Handicap, of £IOOO. Class 4min 28sec.
