AIR EXHIBITION

OPENED BY NEW ZEALAND OFFICER LONDON, Mar. 12. Air Commodore A. de T. Nevill, who is in charge of R.N.Z.A.F. headquarters in London, opened the air warfare exhibition at the London Guildhall in

connection with the "Wings for Victory Week.” "It is an unexpected privilege to stand in this historic Guildhall,” he said. “A few months ago I was in the virgin jungle of a South Pacific tropical island, where American forces, together with a small proportion of New Zealanders, were engaged in the war of extermination with the Japanese. (Air Commodore Nevill visited Guadalcanar en route to London.) I can think of no greater contrast than there is between these two circumstances. But they have one common feature —that war in its most savage form has come to both the old and the new worlds.”

Referring to New Zealand’s war effort, Air Commodore Nevill said: “ Man power, material, and finance are fully mobilised, and the R.N.Z.A.F. is disposed throughout the world—thePacific, Canada, the United Kingdom, India, and North Africa.” He paid a tribute to the R.A.F., which to-day was supremely confident in its ability to render a striking service towards the successful conclusion of the war.

The exhibition includes aero engines, cannons, machine guns, and cameras.
