SOLDIERS RETURN
SICK AND WOUNDED ARRIVAL OF 20 OTAGO MEN Twenty Otago men who were included in a draft of sick and wounded members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F., which recently returned to New Zealand from the Middle East, arrived in Dunedin by a relief express on Saturday afternoon. On the arrival of the train the men, all of whom were walking cases, were welcomed by the Deputy Mayor (Mr D. C. Cameron), the secretary of the Otago' Provincial Patriotic Council (Mr A. E. Russell), the president (Mr S. G. Scouiar), and the secretary (Mr O. L. Ferens) of the Returned Services’ Association, the president of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. Association (Mr J. Peat), and the Mayor of St. Kilda (Mr N. D. Anderson). The secretary of the Dunedin Red Cross (Miss P. Duncan) was cilso present The arrangements for the detraining of the men were in the hands of Lieutenant H. J. Moynihan and his staff of the sick and wounded section of the Otago Military Command. Men of the Otago Regiment, with Lieutenant A. A. McMillan in charge, controlled the traffic and members of the transport section of the Red Cross drove the men and their relatives to their homes. At the call of Mr Cameron, three cheers were given for a party of 15 men who travelled on the through express to Southland and who, before their departure, were provided with refreshments by the Red Cross.
