NEED FOR FLAXCUTTERS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Mar. 12. The importance of the flax industry to the Dominion in view of the increased demands of our own and the Allied forces for cordage had made it imperative that we should increase the flow of supplies of green flax to the mills, said the Minister of Supply to-day. Mr Sullivan also mentioned the increased use of flax products in the Dominion, for instance, the manufacture of woolpacks. He stated that there was an urgent need for additional experienced flaxcutters. and those willing to learn the trade in the Wellington, Auckland, Wairarapa, and Marlborough districts.
