STREET DAY APPEAL
£625 RAISED FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS The'Street Day for the All Purposes (1943) patriotic appeal yesterday resulted in the collection of £625, with a few small amounts yet to be received. Mr A. C. Cameron, chairman of the Dunedin-St. Kilda Patriotic Committee, said last night that the result of the appeal must be considered satisfactory. There had been no canvassing for cheques or donations, and the Dug-out had not been used for the sale ’of goods. On behalf of the committee he expressed appreciation of the services given by a large band of helpers.
Some of the donations were of considerable value. Mr I. S. Cantrell, honorary treasurer of the committee, received a £5 note from a woman who requested that her donation should be treated as anonymous. In addition, when the collection boxes were opened last night several £5 notes were found.
