OBITUARY

MR E. LOCKERBIE The death occurred recently of Mr Ebenezer Lockerbie; of Maclennan. Mr Lockerbie was born at Kirkcudbright, Scotland, and came to New Zealand with his parents in the ship Adamant, leaving Gravesend in May and arriving at Bluff in November, 1875, after one of the longest voyages to New Zealand on record. He received his education at the South School, Invercargill, being one of its early pupils. On leaving school he entered the employ of Messrs Thomson and Beattie, Invercargill. At various times he conducted hairdressing businesses in Bluff, Invercargill, and Winton. Later he was a farmer at Otapiri Gorge, Southland, but removed to Maclennan in 1920. He married Miss Janet Livingstone, of Dundrennan, Scotland, and is survived by his widow and two sons. DR W. E. WILLIS LONDON, Mar. 11. The death is announced of Dr W. E. Willis, who served with the N.Z.E.F. in the last war and lately practised at Fulham. Dr Willis was a founder and past master of the New Zealand Masonic Lodge in London, and was greatly respected in Masonic circles. Mr W. J. Jordan was represented at the cremation by Lieutenant-colonel Lascelles, and the New Zealand Lodge by Dr I. H. Maclean and Messrs M. M. Smith, J. Balfour, and R. M. Sunley.
