REDPATH SHIELD OTAGO BEATS CANTERBURY Otago beat Canterbury by 392 points to 343 in the twenty-second interprovincial bowling match for toe Redpath Shield, which was played yesterday on the Balmacewen Club’s green. Two series of 25head games were played, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, eight fours aside being engaged. Intermittent showers of rain interfered slightly with play in the morning, but the weather was fine in the afternoon, although a tricky wind militated at times against accurate drawing. In the morning games, Otago totalled 205 points to Canterbury’s 159, only two of the visiting fours, o»e of which was skipped by L. W. Besley, whose rink was runner-up in the Dominion Championship in 1941, scoring wins. In the afternoon, however, Canterbury made a good recovery, winning five of the eight games, and scored 184 points to the home side’s 187. Since the inception of the competition in 1921, Otago has won toe shield on 10 occasions and Canterbury on 12. The following are the details (Otago names being given first): — Morning Game
