Bloodworth expressed the opinion that patriotic funds should be raised by taxation, as-other war funds were, and that the voluntary method left room for subterfuges, one of which was that the people who gave nothing could suggest that they were contributing anonymously. Mr Bloodworth also contended that Parliament - was becoming a joke and politics a byword, and he appealed to members of the Chamber to use their influence in the matter of restoring the dignity of Parliament to its proper Pl Mr'W. H. Mclntyre expressed the opinion that it was criminal to hold an election this year. It was a grave mistake to divide the people mto classes by an election at the present time when the Japanese menace was still great.
