The Solomon Islands are a potential source of plywoods and high grade veneers after.the war. Large numbers of fine hard-woods are found on the islands. The average diameter of the logs is 24 inches, and the trees are fairly free from knots. Before the war logs were sent to Melbourne for the manufacture of plywood, but the trade was never extensively developed.
