RAID ON LORINT

FIFTH IN FORTNIGHT NAZI U-BOAT BASE (Rec. 11,30 p.m.) LONDON, Jan. 27. R.A.F. bombers last night again raided Lorient, the big U-boat base on the French Atlantic coast. This was the fifth raid on the base in a fortnight. An Air Ministry communique states: “Squadrons of United Nations fighters and bombers made trips over Northern France and Belgium this afternoon. In one of these sweeps Venturas, without loss, bombed railway targets at Bruges. Three enemy fighters were destroyed in combat. Four of our fighters are missing from the day’s operations.”
