Shadow Maid has been made favourite for the Dunedin Cup and also for the Flying Handicap. A message from Christchurch states that Horsepower met with an accident a few days ego. In August Gold Pot was fourth in the Queen Mary Handicap to Hardy Oak (4min 22sec). Happy Man (4mm 23 2-ssee.i, and Gold Bank <4min 25 2-ssec), when he went 4min 24 l-ssec. Regal has not been shaping well. Foremost Junior went 4min 25 4-ssec when he ran second to Chatmos (4min 23 3-ssec) in the Empire Handicap. Burt Scott (4tnin 24sec) and Horsepower (4min 25 l-ssec) v'ere third and fourth. At Forbur.v Park Foremost Junior was fourth in the King George Handicap to Shadow’ Maid (4min 21 4-ssec), Countless (4min 20 l-ssec), and Single Star (4min 21 3-ssee). At Auckland he went 4min 23 2-osec when he was second to Davey Day Accountant was fourth at Ashburton to Horsepower, who won in 3min 13 l-ssec from Stornvtost ,(3min 14 3-ssec) and Fine Art (3min 10 4-ssec). At Addington Accountant was fourth in the Canterbury Handicap, and went 4min 32 l-ssec from a 4min 29sec mark—a false-run race. He won the Au Revoir Handicap, of one mile and a-quarter, in 2min 39 3-ssec. Last season Accountant went 4min 19 2-ssec at Addington when he was third in the Belfast Handicap. Stormtost has one placed performance tins season. At Ashburton he was second to Horsepower, and went 3min 14 3-ssec. Accountant, on the same mark, was fourth. Stormtost won over tw’o miles at. Timaru last season tn 4min 32 4-ssec, beating Burt Scott (4min 33 l-ssec). Burt Scott has been placed five times in 10 starts this season. Last season he won 10 times and was placed four times in 15 starts. At Addington Burt Scott won in 4min 22sec, and later in the day scored his final success in the Free-for-AU in 2jnln 37 4-ssec.

This season he was second to Gold Bar (2min 37 l-ssec) in 2min 37 2-ssec. He was fourth to Hardy Oak over two miles in October, the winner going 4min 26 4-3 sec. On November 7 Burt Scott was third to Chatmos (4min 23 3-ssec) and Foremost Junior (4min 25 4-ssec), and went 4min 24sec. In his next race Burt Scott went 4min 25sec when he was second to Peter Smith (4min 22 4-ssec) m the Ollivier Handicap, and in his last performance went 4min 31sec to Horsepower in the Canterbury Handicap, Mankind won at Oamaru in 2min 45 2-ssec, and after a fourth in 2min 6sec won the Mason Handicap, of 13 furlongs, in 3min 30 3-ssec. Shadow Maid won her last three races in 4rain 21 4-ssec, 2min 39 l-ssec, and 4min 22sec. Horsepower followed with a fourth in 4min 25 l-ssec when he was behind Chatmos (4min 23 3-ssec), Foremost Junior (4min 25 4-ssec), and Burt Scott (4min 24sec). He followed with a win at Ashburton in 3min 13 l-ssec, and a win over two miles at Addington, when he beat Fine Art, Burt Scott, and Accountant for speed in a sprint home in the Canterbury Handicap.
