DAILY INTERCESSION

FOR THOSE IN THE HEAT AND BURDEN OF THE DAY

Heavenly Father, we pray for those whose duty calls them to posts of danger—owr sailors, soldiers, and airmen; the men of the mercantile marine; doctors, nurses, police, and Home Guard, firemen, air-raid wardens, and all who are bent on deeds of mercy. Grant to them courage and fidelity, and the knowledge that their sacrificial service is not in vain. Preserve them in life and death; keep their souls from all sin; may devotion to freedom, truth, and right be their inspiration.

God save our King and Queen, all Ministers of the Crown, the rulers and guides of our Allies, all bearing the cares and burdens of leadership; inspire and strengthen them for their ceaseless tasks; maintain their hope and high courage; enable them to plan aright and to encourage all who put their trust in them.
