NEW VICTORY SLOGAN
FIGURES 1918 CHALKED UP -'LONDON, Dec. 27. People in occupied Europe have been urged in a broadcast to chalk up the figures 1918 to “remind the Germans of their defeat in the last war.” This is intended to replace the V for Victory campaign. In a broadcast to occupied Europe Colonel Britton, leader of the V for Victory campaign, said: “In 1918 the enemy could fight no more. He would like to forget this. We painted the V for Victory on the walls in dark days. In these brighter days the figures 1918 are now appearing on the walls in many occupied countries. We will not win the war with a slogan, but we may use the idea to remind ourselves and the enemy of the victory won before. Great things will happen in the coming year. You must be ready for them.”
