SEVEN PLANES DESTROYED
BAR TO CROSS AWARDED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 16. Acting Flight Lieutenant William Vernon Crawford-Compton, R.A.F., a New Zealand officer, who received the Distinguished Flying Cross nine months ago. has been awarded the bar to the cross. He has destroyed seven enemy aircraft The citation states: “Flight Lieutenant Crawford-Compton has led his flight on many operational sorties. In doing so he has displayed outstanding skill and attained great success.”
