NATIONALITY LAW
CHANGES IN BRITAIN RUGBY, Dec. Ji. The Government has decided that certain alterations in the law of British nationality are necessary for reasons directly connected with the war, and a Bill was yesterday introduced in the House of Lords for the purpose. In particular, it is proposed to improve the facilities for the acquisition of British nationality by persons of British descent serving with the armed forces of the Crown.
It is also proposed to amend the law so as to put posthumous children bora abroad in the same position as they would have been had their lathers been alive at the time of their birth. The position of such children is particularly poignant in war-time. it is further proposed to give effect to the pledge by the Prime Minister on duly 4, 1940, to facilitate the acquisition of British nationality by the Frenchmen who decided to take service in armed forces of the Crown.
