BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN

The annual meeting of the Business and Professional Women’s Club was held in the Tudor Hall last week. The president, Miss Vera Hayward, reviewed the year’s activities and thanked the executive and members for their co-operation The report was read by the secretary (Miss Dash), and the balance sheet by the treasurer (Miss Corbett). Admirable work had been done by conveners—Miss G. Thomson (Lady Galway Guild), Miss Young (knitting for services), Miss Ryan (Services’ Club), Miss Hensley (Pioneer Women’s Memorial Club), Miss Wood (W.W.S.A.), Misses Struthers and Wood (National Council of Women). Contributions had been given to the War Fund (All Purposes Appeal. Prisoners of War, Gardening Section of W.W.S.A., etc.), Pioneer Women’s Memorial, Y.W.C.A., as well as financial assistance to an exmember. Votes of thanks were passed in Mrs Barling, the hon. auditor (Mr Ibbotson), the hon. solicitor (Mr Ferens), and the press. Miss Cunningham voiced the clubs appreciation of Miss Hayward’s able control of affairs, particularly the choice of guest-speakers The 1943 meetings are to be looked forward to with great pleasure under the following officers: President. Miss Hayward: secretary, Miss Koa Earland; treasurer, Miss M. Corbett: committee. Misses Dash and Strong. Delegates to various associations will act again.
