OBITUARY
MR JAMES STEWART
The death occurred in Dunedin yesterday, after a short Illness, of Mr James Stewart, sole survivor of the family of Duncan and Ann Stewart, of “ Glcnlyon ” (well known as Stewart’s Gully), North Taien, wno came to Dunedin from Scotland m the Ajax in January, 1849. Mr James Stewart was well known in Dunedin, and particularly in the Roslyn-Wakari district, where he had lived for 74 years. He was probably tbe resident with the longest continuous residence there. He took an active part in musical circles many years ago, and assisted many charitable causes, and he also took a keen interest in local affairs. The surviving members of his family are Mrs E. B, Hayward (Wanganui), Miss C. L. Stewart, and Messrs J. B. and E. N. Stewart (Dunedin. MR ESMOND S. KOHN " A well-known Auckland business man, Mr Esmond S. Kohn, whose death occurred last week, at the age of 63, was born in Dunedin, being the son of Mr Sigismund Kohn. His father was one of a family of brothers who emigrated to New Zealand nearly 100 years ago and set up jewellery shops in the four centres.
