LIBERTY LOAN
SEVEN MILLION .MARK PASSED (P.A.) WELLINGTON,'Nov. 9. Up to the close of business to-day the Dominion total of contributions to the second Liberty Loan amounted to £7,072,890, comprising 10,854 applications. To-day’s contributions amounted to £252,660, representing 1025 applicants. RESPONSE IN OTAGO ABOUT £300,000 STILL REQUIRED At a meeting yesterday morning the executive of the Liberty Loan Organising Committee for the Otago district was advised that last week’s campaign had finished on an encouraging note, the increase for the week being 323 applications for £213.630. This brings the total for the Otago district to £503,530 for 635 applications, and, while the committee is gratified at the response to the appeal for more small investors, it is pointed out that, in order to reach its objective, the district must subscribe almost £300,000 in the last week of the campaign. The task is a big one, but every effort will be made to achieve success. All the banking institutions are helping by agreeing to receive subscriptions until 4 p.m. each day throughout the week, up to and including Friday next.
