Monday, September 7 (Before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M.) Licensing Breaches Beni?min Parker, licensee of the Victoria Hotel, for whom Mr C. J. L. White appeared, pleaded guilty to selling liquor after hours. —The magistrate said that the facts were before the court when the barman was charged, and as the licensee was vicariously responsible for the acts of his barman the matter was adjourned to enable the police to prosecute the licensee.—Mr White said that the defendant was not discharged from hospital until the day after the offence, and his wife had also been ill. -Parker was fined £lO, with costs (10s). —Ewen Doherty, the barman concerned, who was charged on Friday with selling liquor after hours, was fined a similar amount, with costs (10s). Failure to Enrol Lawrence George Byres, who was charged with failure to enrol in the First Division of the General Reserve, was sentenced to rne month's imprisonment, the term to date from September 4.
