FURTHER APPEALS HEARD The No. 1 Aimed Forces Appeal Board —Messrs D. C. Cameron (chairman), J C, H, Somerville, and W. R. Clarkecontinued its sitting yesterday, when further appeals for exemption or release from military service were heard. Four weeks’ leave was granted in an appeal by W. Harris and Co.. Ltd., on behalf of a shop assistant, and leave until September 30 in the case of a farm labourer appealed for by Mrs M. Robertson. Release from camp was granted in the following appeals;—Mrs Arthur, for an electrician, the reservist to join the Home Guard; the Director of National Service (typewriter mechanic), the reservist to join the Home Guard Signallers: Robert Joseph (farm labourer), to be reviewed at the end of two months. Appeals by F. E. Lapham, W, Harris and Son. Ltd. (for a shop assistant), James King (butcher). Tilbury Forwarding Company (driver), A. W. Stables (office assistant), and T. Jenkins (tailor) were dismissed. . . _ Appeals bv Messrs A. and T. Burt. Ltd., on behalf of two fitters, four plumbers, two electricians, two moulders, two tinsmiths, a drainer, a brass finisher, a boilermaker, and three apprentices were adjourned sine die, the reservists to serve in the Home Guard or an E.P.S. unit. In an appeal on behalf of G. W. Cameron, it was decided to recommend that the reservist be transferred to a local camp.
