MOSGIEL SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the Mosgiel School Committee was presided over by Mr E. W. Cate. Mr L. A. McGee warded his resignation as secretary on accouri of going into camp. The resignation was accepted with regret, and it was decided to place a minute of appreciation on the committee's records.—An application by the dental nurse for a new heater for the clinic was referred to the chairman and the rector to attend to A circular was read from the Education Board, in which the committee's opinion was sought on the suggestions made about school children assisting or being responsible for the work of school cleaning. The present allowance did not permit of adequate remuneration to a janitor. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided to hold the matter over for one month. The rector and the staff were thanked for their help, given as an emergency measure to meet the difficult position obtaining at present.—Applications by the rector for £1 worth of plasticine, a supplv of report cards, and repairs to the Incinerator were granted.
