ST. CLAIR AMENITIES
MEETING OF SOCIETY That the policy of the society, at present was not to press for any improvements owing to the war situation was stressed by Mr H. H. Henderson, the president of the St. Clair Improvement and Amenities Society, at the annual meeting last night. Mr Henderson said that many schemes for proposed amenities had recently been held in abeyance and that it had been decided that the annual carnival should not be held this year. The annual report stated that representations had been made to the City Council in regard to the provision of a children's convenience and a bicycle rack at the Surf Bathing Pavilion, and the asphalting of a portion of the children's playing area. Mr Henderson and Mr E. N. Falck were elected to represent the society at a conference with the City Council, the Domain Board, and the Dunedin Amenities Society, which was to be held in the near future, and at which the question of the construction of a terrace in the bank at the entrance to the St. Clair Baths would be discussed. A motion was passed deleting residence in a specified district as a qualification for membership. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows: President, Mr Falck; immediate past president, Mr Henderson; vice-presi-dents, Messrs D. C. Robertson and M. A. Robson; committee—Messrs N. D. Anderson, M. Burt, B. F. Simonsen, J. M. Lowry, H. D. Gillies, E. Ruhen, and W. R. Brinsley; honorary solicitor, Mr W. Ward; honorary treasurer, Mr Henderson; honorary auditor, Mr D. S. Buchanan; honorary, secretary, Mr F. L. McFarlane.
