POLITICAL UNITY
CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON LEADERS REPORT PROGRESS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 17. After discussions, which have extended over nearly three weeks, between the Prime Minister,'Mr Fraser, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr S. G. Holland, on the subject of political unity, a conference with a wider basis of representation was held today. In addition to Mr Fraser and Mr Holland, there were present Mr J. G. Coates, the Minister of Supply, Mr D. G. Sullivan, the Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, all members of the War Cabinet, as well as two prominent members of the National Party and two from the industrial labour movement. Mr Adam Hamilton, another member of the War Cabinet, was out of Wellington. The conference met twice this afternoon and again to-night. Mr Fraser and Mr Holland both said at the tea adjournment that progress had been made, but beyond that they had no statement to make.
