PATRIOTIC APPEAL
A COMMENDABLE ACTION
A commendable patriotic action is reported on 'the part of the employees ,of Messrs Cadbury Fry Hudson. Ltd., who have-contributed to the All Purposes Appeal' the sum Of £136. This amount was', raised by the employees voluntarily foregoing for the first week the 5 per cent, increase in wages recently granted by the Arbitration Court. Acknowledging the donation, the Otago Provincial Patriotic Council states that the thought was a happy one on the part of the staff of Messrs Cadbury Fry Hudson, Ltd., and the idea might well be adopted by the employees of other firms who feel that they would like to assist the appeal. The Retailers’ Group (section 3) of the Patriotic Committee is still working hard towards the attainment of its quota. Next Thursday these workers will occupy the Dug-out in the Octagon. Contributions of gdods or produce may be left with Miss McKague. of Dawson’s, Ltd., or Mr Claxton, of Hallensteln Bros., Ltd.
