LATE GOVERNOR'S CONFIDENCE (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 10. Sir William Dobbie, who has retired from the Governorship of Malta, has just arrived by air in London, accompanied by his wife and daughter. He said that there was no question that the defence of the island would hold out and that if the Hun tried to invade the island he would be hotly received. It is announced in London that Major-general Colin Jardine has been appointed to command the troops in Gibraltar.
