ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
NURSE KILLED IN FALL (PA.) AUCKLAND, May 10. Falling from a balcony on the third story of the Cargen Nurses' Hostel to the courtyard, Miss Maureen Mary Hartley, aged 19, was killed to-day. The deceased, who was a nurse at the Auckland Hospital, occupied a bedroom on the third floor, the window of this and the adjoining room being fronted by a balcony. It is thought that Miss Hartley was following her customary habit of exercising on the balcony, and overbalanced, falling over the parapet wall. INJURY TO ANKLE Elizabeth Russell, an elderly married woman residing at 29 Dalmeny street, was admitted to the Public Hospital at 5.50 p.m. on Saturday with a fractured left ankle, the result of a fall off some steps at her home. SOLDIER INJURED Sydney Leach, a private from a military camp, was admitted to Hospital at 5 p.m. on Saturday suffering from an injury to the left leg, received in the Rugby football match Army B v. Zingari-Richmond. FALL DOWN STEPS Norman Skinner, a young man whose home is at 26 Albert street, St. Clair, was admitted to Hospital at 1.54 a.m. yesterday suffering from head injuries, received when he fell down some steps at St. Clair.
