ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE

Sir, —To-day thousands of parents and relatives are mourning the loss of loved ones who have made the supreme sacrifice in this the greatest war the world has ever known. Yet after 27 years we still celebrate Anzac Day. An airman in the R.A.F. for over three years wrote this recently to his parents: “ On reflection I find I haven't a single old pal left in the whole of the Air Force; they have all gone one way and another.” I am convinced that if it were left to the general public fully 90 per cent, would say yea! Is it necessary to plead with the R.S.A. to give early consideration to the general desire? Carry on with Poppy Day by all means. —I am, etc., Dunedin, May 8. Parade.
