NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN

ANNUAL MEETING A good representation of delegates attended the annual meeting of the National Council of Women held on Wednesday in the Teachers’ Institute rooms, and presidents of affiliated societies were present, at the invitation of the council. Sub-committee reports were presented by the following members:—Mrs C. Mackie Begg, mental Hospital visitation: Mrs Wood, work of the W.W.S.A.; Miss Green, developments in the occupational centre; Miss J. Green, work of the vocational guidance association; Miss N. Tyndall, tire New Education Fellowship: Mrs W. K. Cameron, work of the Mayoress Patriotic Committee. The annual report stated that the number of affiliated societies was 38, with 49 representatives. The associate members numbered 11 with three honorary associate members. “The role of .women in the present crisis is a vital one. no matter how the war goes.” said Miss H. K. LovellSmith in her presidential address. She urged members to study all matters relating to the welfare of women in the changing regime. and stressed the need for vigilance in watching that the proposed social innovations did not react to the detriment of women and the good of humanity.
