Patriotic Guild.—The annual meeting of the Alexandra Women’s Patriotic Guild was held on ;Frlday afternoon, Mrs.W. A. Bodkin (president) occupying the chair. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £BO Is sd, and the report disclosed the large amount of work done during the year, which had Included the packing and posting of four parcels each to the members of the Fighting Forces and nurses serving overseas, making a total of approximately 400 parcels. The election'of office-bearers resulted as follows: President, Mrs W. A. Bodkin; vice-presi-dents, Mesdames J. Turnbull and G. H. Hannay; joint secretaries, Mesdames A. T. Stewart and Miss D. Marshall; committee—Mesdames R. S. Klnnaird, C. H. Burgess, E. Russell, D. Tohill, and A. McKellar. Plunket Society.—The annual meeting of the Alexandra sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held on Tuesday, Mrs T. E. Sunderland presiding pver a large attendance, including members from Omakau and Clyde. The report and balance sheet showed the affairs of the society to be in a satisfactory state. Special mention was made of the excellent work carried on throughout the district by Miss E. Marrett, and it was urged that all mothers should take advantage of the service offered by her. Mrs T. E. Sunderland was elected president, and the committee was re-elected, with the addition of Mesdames A. M. Pryor and C. Deaker (Omakau) and W. K. George (Clyde). The resignation of Mrs H. E. Stevens (Clyde) was received, and mention was made of the long and useful service she had rendered to the society.
