Birch wood Meeting.—Nominations for the Birchwood Hunt meeting are due tomorrow. ' Georgia—The Darien gelding Georgia is now looking in better racing shape than ever previously noticed. Withdrawal.—The Paper Money mare Withdrawal reappeared at Wingatui yesterday morning and has thickened out during a spell. Forte.—What may prove a useful addition to A. E. Didham's stable is the five-year-old mare Forte, by Valkyrian from Blaze, by Soldiers' Chorus. Gladynev.—The top-weight in the Dunedin Cup has come into favour and some sporting bets have been made that he will beat Hearth. Beau Ciel.—Since joining C. C. McCarthy's stable Beau Ciel has been treated to an easy time, but may be seen out at the Riverton meeting. Mauretania.—ln her race at Hokitika Mauretania suffered interference at the start from a position wide out. She finished fast in third place. Prince Leighon. Apparently the Leighon colt Prince Leighon is inclined to be lazy, as he dropped back in his gallop yesterday morning. A. E. Didham, who was on top, shook the whip at his mount and a response resulted in a recovery of the lost ground. Money Bird.—The Paper Money gelding Money Bird shaped well yesterday morning with Compeer and Prince Leighon. The two were under pressure at the finish and Money Bird was staying on. He would benefit from the gallop, but still looks a bit round in the middle piece. Remarkable Records—When he was first horseman for the Chokebore Lodge stable F. E. Jones rode no fewer than nine winners of the Dunedln Champagne Stakes between 1908 and 1918. They all carried the Clifford chequers except Mr J. B. Reid's Angelina. Between 1904 and 1923 the Clifford colours were successfully carried by 14 winners at Wingatui.. Prior to that Cynisca won for the stable in 1889. Since 1923 Fracas and Haughty Winner have won for the stable. The late R. Derrett rode no fewer than nine winners of the Dunedin Champagne Stakes, including the immortal Carbine. Records.—Three new track records were established at Hokitika on Saturday as follows:—Hearth, lmin 41sec for the mile Anniversary Handicap i Sir Gundi, 2min 7 2-ssec, for the mile and a-quarter Westland Hack Handicap; and Rawhamai, lmin 13 4-ssec for the six furlong Thompson Memorial Handicap. These times have seldom been approached oh West Coast courses. Miss Saone's lmin 28sec for the seven furlong Kanieri Hack Handicap was just outside the course record.
