“ALADDIN ”

Included among the many scenic and other features which are presented In J. C. Williamson’s pantomime, "Aladdin,” which is to be staged at His Majesty’s Theatre for a brief season, beginning on Thursday night, with matinees on Friday aftd Saturday afternoons, are Abanazar’s Haunt, A Market Square in Old Peking, The Widow Twankey’s humorous kitchen scene. The Mountain . Pass, The Magic Cave, The Emperor’s Garden, A Street in Old Peking, Aladdin’s Palace, The Floating Princess. Abanazar’s Bowl, The Oriental Palace, and The Grand Finale Palace Scene. The musical numbers include “ Chins Up High," “ Why Do the Men Run After Me?” "Down Every Street,” " Come Out, Mrs Twankey,” ” Do You Believe in Fairy Tales? ” ” Who’s That Knocking at the Door? ” “ Yours for a Song.” 41 Night and Day,” “ If, Only I Had Wings,” “ Underneath the Bed,” “ Two Little Squirrels,” " You’re Here, You’re There, You’re Everywhere.” and " Ting-a-Ling.” Playgoers-in Wellington were thrilled by the brilliancy of the lovely ballerinas and by the beautiful dance creations in which they are presented.
The success achieved by "Aladdin" Is due to a great extent to the splendid team work of the singers, comedians, dancers and specialty artists and to the artistry of the Great Levante in the role of the wicked magician. The leading comedian, Mr E. Edwards, is one of London’s foremost pantomimists, while the delightful English comedienne, Miss Doris Whimp, has achieved her best successes in pantomime. The box plans are rapily filling at the D.I.C.
