Roll call: “War-time joke.” Motto: “ Don’t think because skies are black the sun will never shine again.” Competitions: Marble cake—Miss E. Wennerbeck 1, Miss Wennerbeck 2. Gooseberries —Mrs McCulloch 1, Mrs Calder 2. Rarest flower —Mrs Kielty 1, Mrs Coutts 2. Cone throwing—Mrs Trask. Macandrew Bay.—Mrs Challis presided. Motto: “ Judge not your fellow-members by results, but by efforts.” Roll call; “ Holiday experiences.” Demonstration: Weaving—Mrs Butler, sen. Competitions: Work—Mrs RJyan 1, Mrs Butler 2. Bloom —Mrs Stapleton 1, Mrs Hlnkley 2. Ukulele items; Mesdames Stapleton, Hartley, Challis and Bewley. Hostesses: Committee (Miss Jones. Mesdames Garland, Young, Challis, Twose, Dleberg, Hellyer, and Miss Challis). -Market table: Mrs Butler, jun. A letter was read from the Motcombe Women’s Institute, England. Sutton.—Mrs White sent a written address on the motto: “If’one cannot strew life’s path with flowers, at least one can strew It with cheerfulness.” A home front letter” (for soldiers) was read. Competitions: Knitted squares for the Red Cross—Miss O. Terry 1, Miss D. Kinsman 2, Mrs Johnstone 3. Sewing—Miss O. Terry 1. Members decided to open a national savings account, the money to be raised by market tables. Social halfhour: Misses O. Terry and I. Kidd.
