INCREASED PAY

THREE BRITISH SERVICES V LONDON, Feb. 6. Although no official statement has yet been made, it is understood that rankers in the navy, the army and the R.A.F. will shortly receive an increase of pay of 6d a day, which will be banked and handed over after the war in cash or in some form of security. Other changes will be Is a week extra for each dependent child. The compulsory basic allotment will be reduced from 7s to 3s 6d a week, the Government making up the difference to dependents but banking similarly 6d. Mr Churchill is expected to announce the increases s shortly. Some prominent Conservatives, besides Labour members; have been urging, the Government to grant increases in order to bridge to some extent the disparity between the pay pf the forces and the war workers.
