OBITUARY

The death occurred on January 30, at her residence, 17 Kilgour street, Roslyn, of Mrs Agnes Thompson, in her ninety-second year. She was born near Dundee in the year 1850, and came to New Zealand with other members of her family in the sailing ship Parsee, landing at Port Chalmers on September 13, 1874. From there she went to Oamaru and settled at Maheno, where she married Mr Robert Thompson. The couple resided in this district until Mr Thompson sold his farm and retired to Roslyn in 1900. His death occurred in 1916. Mrs Thompson was of a quiet retiring disposition. and did not take much part m outside affairs. She had been confined to her home during recent years. She was the oldest member of the Roslyn Presbyterian Church, having joined up when the church was opened in 1901. She is survived by four daughters and two sons.
