NEW ZEALAND TEAM BEATEN ' (N.Z.E.F. News Service) CAraO.Dec.27. The Maadi Camp hockey team suffered its first defeat of the season when it met an Indian General .Hospital side at the Maadi Sporting Club ground to-day. The score of 5 goals J to 4 was a fair indication of the close nature of the play, which was fast and of a high standard. Territorially, the < New Zealanders held the advantage, ; and, had it not been for brilliant say-/ ing by the Indian goal-keeper, would have added at least three more to their , total. On the other hand, they were unable to stave off the lightning offensive movements of the Indian captain and centre-forward, Gopal Singh, and his inside-right, D'Costa, in the ; second half. The former has represented Punjab and also the Indian Army, and the latter is an ex-Madras representative.
