Gisborne had rain on more days last month than in any January since records were first taken more than 60 years ago. Rain fell on 20 days, compared with the previous record of 18 days in 1922. The rainfall was not heavy, however, the total being 3.22 inches, compared with 8.31 inches last year and an average for January of 2.76 inches.
